What Can You Power Wash

Blogs 17

You can indeed safely high-pressure flush some highly durable outdoor surfaces, such as concrete driveways, sidewalks, masonry patios, garage floors, and flagstone hallways. These are places that have been plagued by years of stubborn dirt, mold, and unsightly oil stains, and the effects of high-pressure flushing are usually immediate.

For vertical surfaces like vinyl wall panels, or more “delicate” structures like wooden platforms and fences, the professional standard in the industry is to use “soft washing” technology ——that is, using a special cleaning fluid with a low-pressure water flow, which can achieve a deep cleaning effect No worries about surface damage or paint washing off. High-pressure water flow is indeed a powerful tool for renovating pavers and hardscapes, but it should never be used on roof tiles, windows, or those old brick walls that have become weathered and crispy. That kind of impact can easily break the structural seal, and it may cost you a lot of money to fix it in the end.

Durable Surface

When you encounter that particularly leathery material, high-pressure flushing is definitely the most efficient way to restore them to their original appearance. Only these surfaces can withstand the high PSI pressure that is enough to wash away deep pollutants.

  • Concrete driveways and sidewalks: Concrete is incredibly tough and the most durable material I’ve ever used. Flushing these areas effectively removes tire marks, oil leaks, and those dark, biological attachments that build up over time, instantly brightening up your doorstep.
  • Masonry terraces and slate corridors: This type of hardscape, made of stone or modern brick, is the best object for washing. High-pressure water flows deep into the material’s pores, washing away dust and mold that you simply can’t get with a hand brush.
  • Garage floors: Garage floors are often messed up by stubborn oil stains and various chemical residues. This concentrated high-pressure shock, combined with some professional degreaser, can directly disintegrate these stubborn combinations and return you a clean and safe ground.

Professional Standard

Not all surfaces can withstand the “violent” impact of a pressure gun. For some of the more sensitive parts of the house, we use “soft wash” technology to achieve professional results while ensuring that no damage is caused.

  • Vinyl Wall Panel: Although this thing is usually quite weatherproof, if the pressure is too high, the wall panel may crack or be washed directly crooked. Using a specialized cleaning solution to kill algae and mold from the roots and then gently flushing it away with low-pressure water is the safest approach.
  • Wooden platforms and fences: The wood is actually very soft. High-pressure water can easily tear paint, damage wood grain, and even cause wood to crack. By using professional soft wash standards, we can perfectly prepare the next painting or sealing while protecting the integrity of the wood.

Key Warning

House after cleaning

To prevent homeowners from wasting money on repairs, there are areas that are off-limits to areas that my high-voltage equipment will never touch.

  • Roof Tiles: Never spray high-pressure water on asphalt shingle roofs. That force washes away the protective particles on the tile’s surface, which are used to block UV rays. Without them, the roof would quickly leak and be scrapped prematurely.
  • Windows and glass structures: It is common for that impact force to break the glass, and more commonly to break the seals around the frame. Once the seal is broken, the double glazing will fog up forever in the middle and the insulation will be completely useless.
  • Old or weathered brick walls: While modern bricks are hard, bricks from older houses or historic buildings often have brittle mortar. High-pressure water will directly wash away this mortar, causing the wall to be unstable and water vapor will also enter the wall along the gaps.
