Yes, you can use a pressure water gun to wash the oil stains off your driveway, but if you rely solely on cold water combined with a high-pressure hard flush, you will fall into a pit, which will most likely leave permanent damage to your ground. To completely deal with that stubborn oil that seeps into the pores of cement, you have to follow this professional process in our industry “chemical-brush-heat”.
You need to spray a high-quality concrete degreaser first to “emulsify” the oil, give it a 15 to 20 minute penetration time to break up the molecular chains, and then go to a pressure washer ——preferably with hot water, at least 3000 PSI pressure and no less than 2.8 GPM flow rate. If you hold a sprinkler head against an oil stain “hard” without any surfactant, the result is often a washed-out concrete surface or a mark that will never go away. To restore the ground to its original state, this chemical pretreatment combined with the physical strength of a professional disc washer is currently the only positive solution.

Many people think that the problem of not flushing cleanly is insufficient pressure. The problem lies in the molecular properties of the oil. The cement floor looks hard, but it is actually full of micropores like a sponge, and oil will drill down these pores to the depths.
To reverse this process, you need to use a high-performance concrete degreaser. Our purpose is called “emulsification”——, which is to wrap the oil droplets with chemical surfactants and make them float to the surface. Here’s a dead letter: 15 to 20 minutes of infiltration time should never be saved. The agent needs time to drill into the pores to cut off the connection between the oil and cement. If the hot potion is almost dry, you spray it with a little mist, and you have to keep the chemical reaction online anyway.
The potion is responsible for “charging”, and the physical scrub is “expanding the results”. Light spray really almost means that for that old oil stain.
I often tell newbies that rubbing hard with one of those stiff-bristled brushes is extremely crucial. Manual brushing can help the degreaser actually enter the bottom layer of the cement pores. Don’t underestimate this step. It allows the emulsifier to coat the oil more tightly. When you rinse in the last step, the high-pressure water flow will carry away the residue as soon as it passes, which is not easy to cause future problems.

In the row, there is an essential difference between ordinary pressure washing and power hot washing: the difference is in that “fire”. When washing oil stains, hot water is more than one level more efficient than cold water.
This is similar to washing greasy dishes. Hot water can quickly reduce the viscosity of grease. If you’re using an industrial-grade hot water system like WINGSPAN that maintains a constant high temperature, the oil stain is basically “in seconds”. Cold water actually hardens the grease and makes it harder to get around, which is why many DIY players can’t wash it clean.
If the equipment parameters are not set correctly, it is easy to cause “etching”—— the kind that leaves permanent white scratches or scars on the cement floor.
You need at least 3000 PSI of pressure to create enough mechanical impact to bring the dirt out of the pores. If the pressure exceeds 3500 PSI and it still hits a point, the protective layer on the cement surface will be washed away by you. Plus, flow is the real secret weapon. The pressure is responsible for “shattering” the dirt, while the high flow rate is responsible for washing this stuff away completely and preventing it from settling back into that faint “ghost shadow”.

If you don’t want the ground to be all streaked “zebra print” after washing, don’t dangle that long-rod spray gun. Professionals will definitely need to switch to a disc cleaner at this time.
This type of equipment has two rotating nozzles that can maintain a constant distance and angle with the ground, ensuring that the force and heat are exactly the same in every inch. More importantly, it prevents erosion damage caused by the nozzle being too close to the ground. Once the oil has washed off, you will find that the entire ground is very uniform in color.
