The high-pressure plunger pump water seal kit is an indispensable and important accessory for the hydraulic end of the high-pressure pump, and it is also a typical wear part. Its core function is to seal the water in the hydraulic end, prevent water leakage, and ensure the normal operation of the high-pressure pump. Once the water seal is worn, its sealing performance will drop sharply. The most direct consequence is that water from the hydraulic end enters the crankcase. When the engine oil in the crankcase mixes with water, the lubricating capacity of the engine oil will be greatly reduced or even completely lost. Lubrication failure will cause severe wear and corrosion of internal parts of the high-pressure pump’s crankcase, and ultimately lead to serious faults such as crankcase damage or pump body water leakage. This not only affects the normal operation of the equipment but may also result in high maintenance costs.
Common materials for high-pressure plunger pump water seals are mostly rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and other materials with strong sealing performance. These materials have high requirements on the operating environment and working conditions. Poor water quality and unreasonable usage are the main causes of accelerated wear of the water seal. In particular, when the water contains solid particles such as sand and stones, these impurities will continuously grind the surface of the water seal like abrasives, quickly damaging its sealing structure; in addition, if the equipment has insufficient water intake or no water intake at all, the water seal will be in a dry friction state, causing the temperature to rise sharply, which in turn leads to burning and wear of the sealing surface, losing the sealing function. Therefore, in daily use, paying attention to the status of the water seal kit, ensuring clean water intake and sufficient water supply are the keys to extending the service life of the water seal and avoiding major faults of the high-pressure pump.
