Adjust the pressure of the high-pressure cleaning machine, mainly depends on your equipment type and operation proficiency. I usually divide this into three ways. For most of the friends who just wash their yards, the safest way is to change the nozzle-to widen the water flow, or simply stand away, don’t wash, reduce the physical impact. But if you are a high-level user or technician who plays gasoline engines, you can indeed hard-change the PSI (pounds per square inch) output of the machine by fine-tuning the unloading valve or throttle. However, in other words, it is better to hang a pressure gauge on these mechanical structures, otherwise it is easy to overheat the pump and even directly cause irreversible damage.

Applicable to the crowd: homeowners & novice
To be honest, for most cleaning tasks, you don’t need to touch the internal mechanical structure of the machine. The “standard action” in the industry to control the intensity of the water flow is actually to replace the nozzle. The ingenuity of this method is that it changes the “impact” of the water hitting the object, not the pressure inside the pump, so it is the safest for your equipment.
Read the spray pattern:
The cleaning machine nozzles on the market are basically universal and are distinguished by color. Nozzles with small aperture have extremely concentrated water flow and large impact force. If the aperture is wide, the water will disperse the pressure and the pressure on the surface will be small.
The right color is key:
Red (0 °): extreme pressure. Unless you want to cut something, it is rarely used for general cleaning, the surface will be spoiled if you are not careful.
Yellow (15 °) & Green (25 °): Medium pressure. This is the most common stall I use when washing concrete floors or going to old paint.
White (40 °): Low pressure. Spray out is a wide fan. Use this when washing windows, car washing or siding, without damaging the paint.
Black (soap): lowest pressure. This is specially designed to spray detergent, don’t expect it to wash away dirt.
Simply put, switching from a yellow nozzle to a white nozzle immediately reduces the cleaning power to a safe level for delicate surfaces.

Sometimes I still feel too strong or too small after changing the nozzle. At this time, the most direct way is to adjust your body position. Water pressure this thing, the farther away from the gun head, the more decay.
The Law of Distance:
In my experience, even if you just pull the gun back a few inches, the impact can be reduced by as much as 50% in an instant.
Practical skills:
When starting, the spray gun should be about 2 feet (about 60cm) away from the surface. Then slowly close until you feel that you can wash the mud away without damaging the surface of the material. If you encounter stubborn stains, get closer and wash to the fragile area and back off. This dynamic adjustment depends entirely on the hand feeling, does not need to stop, is the most flexible “real-time control pressure”.

Applicable people: high-level users & technicians (gasoline cleaning machine)
If you are doing commercial cleaning, or have a hard indicator for PSI, you have to be serious-adjust the internal pressure of the gasoline cleaning machine. Without professional tools to monitor it, the pump body can overheat or permanently damage in minutes.
The function of the unloading valve is to direct the water flow to the bypass loop when you release the trigger. Of course, it can also be used to limit the maximum pressure.
Find the position:
There is usually a knob above the water inlet of the pump.
Careful adjustment:
Twist this knob to find the “sweet spot” of the PSI output “.
Serious warning:
when adjusting this, you must hang up the pressure gauge. As a result, the pressure is too high and there is no monitoring. Heat accumulates in the pump, which eventually leads to valve failure and even pump explosion. If the setting is improper, the water flow can not be normal bypass, the consequences are very serious.

For gasoline engines, engine speed (RPM) is directly linked to water pressure (PSI) and flow (GPM).
Throttle control:
Press down the throttle lever on the engine, the speed will drop, and the output pressure will naturally be low.
Limitations:
This buck is really effective, but if you let the engine work at low idle speed for a long time, it may burn insufficiently and even stall directly. And adjust the unloading valve, the key is to stare at the output state, to ensure that the cleaning effect is stable.
